Frequently asked questions
When will the hosted service be available?
The hosted service is currently in development. We're working on authentication, search infrastructure, and billing systems. Sign up for updates on our GitHub repository to be notified when it launches.
Can I try the hosted service before it launches?
We'll be running a beta program before the official launch. Star our GitHub repository to stay informed about beta access.
What counts as a "public" open-source project?
Any project with a public GitHub repository and an OSI-approved open-source license qualifies for free hosting. We follow the same criteria as GitHub's open-source program.
Can I self-host and still get authentication?
The community edition CLI tool generates static sites without built-in authentication. You can add authentication yourself by placing the generated site behind your own auth proxy or using a service like Cloudflare Access or Netlify Identity.
Will there be a free tier for the hosted service?
We're still finalizing pricing details. We plan to offer a generous free tier for small teams and personal projects, in addition to the free hosting for open-source projects.
Can I migrate from self-hosted to the hosted service later?
Yes! Since your specifications are just Markdown files in a Git repository, you can easily switch between self-hosting and the hosted service at any time. Your data stays in your Git repo, so you're never locked in.
